Above all, we recommend that you familiarise yourself with your Pinion bike and the basic assembly work on it before going on a long journey!
The gearbox and the entire bike should have undergone at least a certain running-in period and a professional initial inspection before starting your journey.
Please also refer to our table of recommended maintenance intervals in the gearbox' manual and the recommendations of your bike manufacturer.
Apart from the Pinion lockring tool (for fitting and removing the front sprocket or spider), no special tools are required.
All other screw connections on the gearbox are standard hexagon socket ("Allen") screws. A T30 Torx key is required to remove and re-install the gearbox from/to the frame.
The housing screws require a special tool and must NEVER been touched except by us when performig a gearbox service.
We use standard gear cables. Cables are subject to wear, especially under extrem conditions. It is strongly recommended to take a set of spare cables on your trip.
If the Pinion bike is equipped with a belt transmission, it is advisable to pack a spare belt of the appropriate length.
If the regular oil change on the gearbox is due during the journey, an original oil change set should be available.
