The Pinion Smart.Shift app for smartphones can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. The app only works with Smart.Shift boxes that support Bluetooth®. Smart.Shift boxes that communicate directly with the e-bike via CAN interface (e.g. with Stromer or Thoemus bikes) do not require the Smart.Shift app. In this case, all settings can be made via the e-bike display.

Scan the QR code or click the following link to install the app on your smartphone:

Once the app is installed, follow these steps to configure your Smart.Shift box settings:

→ Activate Bluetooth® pairing for the Smart.Shift system (LED on the Smart.Shift box flashes blue):

On an e-bike, after switching on the bike, the Smart.Shift box is in pairing mode for two minutes and can be found by the app.

For non-e-bikes, the connection to the Smart.Shift battery can be disconnected and reconnected, provided that the battery or plug is accessible.

In any case, if the power supply is connected, the Bluetooth® pairing function of the Smart.Shift system can be activated manually for two minutes as follows:

Press the trigger button furthest away from you (without the Pinion logo) for three seconds and then release it. The LED on your Smart.Shift box will now flash blue.

For shift levers other than the Pinion trigger shifter, you will need to try out which shift button has the corresponding assignment. If in doubt, ask the bicycle manufacturer.

→ Connect device:

With Bluetooth® pairing activated in the Pinion Smart.Shift app, go to the ‘Device list’ tab and tap on ‘Add device’ to add your Smart.Shift box. If there are several active Smart.Shift boxes nearby, make sure you select the correct one. Remove or deactivate the other boxes or bring your smartphone very close to your Smart.Shift box and pay attention to the signal strength displayed in the App.

Once it has been added, you can give your Smart.Shift box an individual name, which is only stored locally on your smartphone.

NOTE:

If you make changes in the Smart.Shift app while the Bluetooth® connection is inactive, the changes will only be applied once the connection is re-established.
